IRAF on x86_64 Gentoo?

sbrig wrote on Jan 08, 2007

Dear All,

Does anybody use IRAF under 64 bit Gentoo distribution? I'm trying to install it, but it would be easier with an ebuild, or with a list of instruction.

Thanks in advance

Brigitta

The system should run using pre-built binaries, however compilation isn't supported under 64-bit systems. For Gentoo you'll need to install the binaries in a 'bin.linux' directory, but you'll want to download the 'redhat' binaries. A complete summary of the installation is in the example at the end of the install guide, see http://iraf.net/ docs/pciraf/ for details. Post back if you still have problems.

Cheers,

I have installed into a new system which has fedora core 6 and it's a 64 bit amd opteron system. Works like a charm... Though I do have a question, but since it's not related to this one, notice the new topic ;)
