XIMTool Error

Guest wrote on Feb 07, 2006

I've just installed IRAF. When I enter the ximtool command I get:

ximtool: relocation error: ximtool: symbol errno, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference

I used the linux IRAF install on Ubuntu Linux 5.1

Note that I am a Windows user with very little knowledge in Linux.

Cheers

David

Try using the distribution from

ftp://iraf.noao.edu/pub/fitz/x11iraf-v1.3.2-bin.redhat.tar.gz

This is a RedHat binary but should work under other Linux system. Post back if you still have problems. I know there are other Ubuntu users, perhaps one of them can offer some experience as well.

I'm having the same trouble on Ubuntu 6. Could you post back if you find a solution. Thanks.

Try building with the sources from

http://iraf.net/ftp/pub/fitz/x11iraf-new_gcc.tgz

I haven't actually got an Ubuntu 6 system but building from source would avoid the dependencies on older system libs that the existing binaries might have. I don't know for sure that the binaries mentioned in the earlier post won't in fact work, I assume because you're asking that they don't???
