IRAF/GIRAF SuSe 10 problems

Hi,

I'm trying to do an IRAF/GIRAF installation on a laptop with SuSe 10.
Previously this laptop had RedHat 9 and the IRAF/GIRAF installation went
fine. I've also installed IRAF/GIRAF on a RH9 desktop and i'm checking the
laptop SuSe installation against the desktop RH9 to see if everything is
installed correctly.

To put things in context, i've performed a new installation of SuSE 10
with /,/home and /opt partitions. IRAF etc. are being installed on /opt.
I've set up a soft link (iraf -> /opt/iraf) and i'm installing from iraf
'user' account, set up with C-shell. The IRAF installation (using precompiled
suse binaries) and TABLES/STSDAS (compiled suse binaries myself) seem to
go fine, e.g. a quick test of images.imutil.imexamine and
stsdas.toolbox.headers.eheader and apropos showed no issues.

The problem at the moment is installing the external packages needed
prior to doing the GIRAF installation.

I believe the following should produce the correct binaries

cl> !gunzip nmisc.tar.Z

so> rtar -xrf nmisc.tar

cl> mkpkg -p nmisc -p noao suse
cl> mkpkg -p nmisc -p noao update >& nmisc.spool &

But bin.suse contains only x_imexam.e ,while bin.redhat on the desktop
contains x_imexamine.e and x_nmisc.e. Is the less than 100% above related
to the missing binary file?

gmisc shows 83% after installation, but both the bin.suse on the laptop
and bin.redhat on the desktop show only one binary i.e. x_gmisc.e, so i'm
confused if the % value is related to missing binaries.

i've attached the nmisc.spool file from the nmisc installation, i can't
make any sense of the final part of the file dealing with x_nmisc.e
