Iraf Batch help
Guest wrote on Nov 08, 2005
Dear responsible,
Iam an IRAF user, somehow new in working with Iraf.
I would like to ask you a help about a simple point for which I
couldnt find online help and examples.
Basically I want to know how one can run a series of commands in one time.
I explain. for example if I want to enter noao and then onedspec and then
plot a fits file using splot.
to avoid writing each time the three commands under IRAF I can for example
edit a file with emacs, the so called batch if Iam correct, in which I
just write the three commands in three lines, like this:
###########
noao
onedspec
splot
###########
my doubt is if this is sufficent or need I add somethings in the same file.
the other point is how can I "run" it under IRAF. I mean if Iam calling
the previous simple file "testbatch".
how can I run it when Iam under IRAF "cl> " ?
I dont know then if it possible to make in the batch a way to ask for
choosing a given fits file ...and also to make out puts...ect
may be this can be done only with scripts not batchs
I would be very very grateful to you Sir/Mm for any help and further explanations
I need to see also some examples if possible.
thank you so so much and best regards.
Safi
