Should this work when using crmedian on the command line?
crmedian( input = file, output = file//"[0,overwrite]" )

Depends on what type of image 'file' is.... If it refers to an MEF file already then you should see an error about specifying the extension on input, if it's a simple FITS file the you would be turning it into an MEF then it should run properly.

What error message are you seeing?
