non-stellar photometry

Hello all,
So, I'm working on trying to get photometric measurements of Saturn's moons during opposition. I've just now finished reducing the images, and can actually proceed to doing the data analysis. I now have a few questions.
1. What's better for non-stellar photometry, apphot (specifically the apphot.phot package) or daophot?
2. If the answer above is apphot, is there an easy-to-follow step-by-step guide out there for doing photometry with the apphot package? I know that Massey and Davis have written one for daophot, but their section on apphot has been much harder for me to make use of. My knowledge of iraf is entirely self-taught, and I've found the complexities of apphot somewhat overwhelming and, frankly, more than a little frustrating.

The package to use is apphot since daophot is specifically for stellar photometry. If you look in the Docs section of iraf.net under Photometry there is a Users Guide for apphot.
