Display error with kpnoslit? Or something more sinister?

I am trying to reduce data from the Goldcam spectrograph on the Kitt Peak 2.1m telescope. I recently installed V2.14.1 for Mac (Intel) on my iMac (2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo).
When I run doslit (noao.imred.kpnoslit) it looks fine, until I start to edit apertures with the interactive plot. Initially, everything looks ok and the window commands work, but after editing the aperture and the background I receive a large number of error messages about the trace:
Oct 27 14:01: TRACE - Trace of aperture 1 in nt30026 lost at column 2502
Oct 27 14:01: TRACE - Trace of aperture 1 in nt30026 lost at column 2512
Oct 27 14:01: TRACE - Trace of aperture 1 in nt30026 lost at column 2592
Oct 27 14:01: TRACE - Trace of aperture 1 in nt30026 lost at column 2602
etc. etc.
There is some kind of problem with the display - error messages and printout from cursor commands (like cursor position, profile width) display at the top of the window, and build up on top of each other. This may or may not be related to the trace problem.
Has anyone seen this before?
