Cannot open file error?

It's funny I was just getting the opposite error to the previous post. I was trying to convert fits files to imh files and was getting "Warning: cannot open pixel file"... turned out that the sub-directory in the imdirs didn't exist. This seems to have been caused by a problem with the mkiraf script. It tries to create a subdirectory in imdirs based on the user's login-in name. But the imdirs directory only has write permission for the iraf account after a fresh IRAF install so the subdirectory isn't made when mkiraf is run by a user. The mkiraf script should throw some sort of error if it can't make the subdirectory it tries to make.

The 'imdir' directory has its permissions changed to mode 666 (everyone can read-write) when the install script is run, so this may indicate that e.g. something higher in the directory path (e.g. /iraf) has permission problems, or perhaps the IRAF system is coming from a read-only NFS partition so the default imdir is invalid?
In any case, I'll add a check to the mkiraf.csh script and default to HDR$ in case a problem is found. I'm building the v2.14 release now so this is a good time for suggestions like this.
Cheers,
