Crowded Field Photometry

I'm looking at a star that gets really faint (V mag ~20) and is about 40" away from an extremely bright B2 star. Using phot, my annulus gets contaminated by the light from the bright star so the annulus radius and width I choose has a significant impact on the magnitude calculation (by about 0.5 mag). I've heard of some other techniques to use, such as PSF fitting or imsurfit. Does anyone have experience using these methods, and if so, do you think they'd actually be more accurate in my situation?
