Installation of IRAF on UBUNTU 6.06 LTS
getulio wrote on Apr 18, 2007
Good Night,
I've just installed UBUNTU on my computer and I'm trying to install IRAF on it. But I don't know how to install neither what files download, because I'm running LINUX for a breath time.
If somebody could help me, I would be in debt with this person.
Thanks.

If you don't want to use the regular installation instructions, see Mike Hutchinson's Ubuntu page at http://mjhutchinson.com/journal/2006-11-05/install_iraf_on_ubuntu_edgy_amd64

I'm using UBUNTU 6.06, I just installed it in the standard way and it worked. Just choose the right files.

This page describes how to setup IRAF on a Ubuntu/Debian machine. Apart from the exact commands, there are some instructions in square brackets that need to be followed. Installation of X11IRAF, DS9, Tables, and STSDAS are included.
