File name ending in 0001.fits

Hello,
Could you please tell me how I can make IRAF name my output files exactly the way I want them and not attaching "0001.fits" at the end of the name I chose?
For example: I use "apall" and enter the following in the parameters file:
input = science049.fit List of input images
(output = science049_ex.fit) List of output spectra
My output file is still named science049_ex.0001.fits.
Thanks,
Ana

Ana,
Try using something other than format=onedspec and you'll get multiple apertures in the same file. If you're only extracting a single aperture and using the onedspec format, I'm not sure there's a way to force the name, the extension is added for onedspec format images automatically.

Hi Mike,
Thank you for your reply. Actually format=onedspec works best for my data, so I will keep changing the filnames manually.
Cheers,
Ana
