ecl on solaris

Hi Iraf
I trying to install ecl on solaris 9 machine I just downloaded the file
"ecl_install_ssun.csh", execute it
./ecl_install_ssun.csh but I get the following:
root@fornax# ./ecl_install_ssun.csh
ECL V0.9 Installation

For each prompt: hit <CR> to accept the default value, 'q' to quit,

root@fornax# uname -a
SunOS fornax 5.9 Generic_118558-39 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Blade-1000
It complains about uudecode but it is already there. Can you tell me
what is going on?.

Be sure the path defined in your .login can find the uudecode. The install script is run with "#!/bin/csh -f" where the '-f' means it won't read any definitions in your .cshrc file when executing the script. You can try running it differently by doing
and it would pick up your .cshrc file, including path definitions. Hope this helps.

Thanks for reply, I finally managed to finish installation process but when I try to execute cl -ecl I get a new error messages.
root@fornax# cl -ecl
cannot read parameter file `cl$cl.par'
Fatal startup error. CL dies.
I'm not totally sure if installation was finished correctly or I need another steep to complete.

First check that the iraf$pkg/ecl/cl.par file exists and is readable. I'm thinking that either the sources were unpacked in the wrong place, or that they were unpacked as user 'iraf' but the default permissions won't let anyone else read it . The binary should be in iraf$bin.ssun/ecl.e and also be readable.
