FOCAS package install

Hi,
I use IRAF V2.16 to analyse images and have not been able to find where can I download FOCAS package for download.
From other posts I have figured out that it might be completely unavailable (since it seems to have been replace by other programs).
Would you be so kind as to tell me where could I download the package and instructions to install.
I am looking forward to use that specific program cause I would like to compare with similar programs like SExtractor.

I have not had a question or done anything with FOCAS in a very long time. After some searching I found where the last distribution I am aware of may be found.

Now get focas.readme and focas.tar.Z. The readme has some installation instructions. It is likely you will have to be pretty knowledgeable about building software in Linux. I can't really help much with this but one can hope that it is not an impossible task. If you succeed and get the binaries that work I would be interested to know.
At that path there is also focas.std.* which is tied to a conference and publication from a long time ago that compared packages at that time. Note this preceeded sextractor.
What I use now in production at NOAO is an IRAF package called ACE which is part of the nfextern external package available for any current IRAF systems. Unfortunately it is not really documented. I could probably guide you in the simplest usage.

I have no knowledge about building up software in LINUX but will try as you suggest.
If by any chance my quite better skilled friends get to create the binaries I will let you know.

When I trie to install focas in IRAF
I do:
make iraffocas
Then in the Makefile set:
BIN=./bin
% make ALL >& make.log&
And this produced an errors. So searched for other posts in the fourum and the last thing
I could find was that the make can't find the "f2c.h" file.
I tried changing the BIN=./bin to BIN=/iraf/iraf/linux/f2c since this file does contains an "f2c.h" file but still obtain an error indicating it does not find it.
Not shure if much can be done to find a solution at this point, but yet thank you very much for taking a look.

I was able to build a version of FOCAS from 2001 for a 32-bit linux system but don't know enough about the package to test whether it actually works or not. You can pick up the tarball which includes binaries from
ftp://iraf.noao.edu/pub/fitz/focas-linux.tar.gz
The binaries are located in the 'bin.linux' subdirectory. Note that a proper port of the package to 64-bit systems would be required to build it as a 64-bit binary, but this should work on your 64-bit OS so long as you have the 32-bit compatibility libraries installed (the details of which rpm/yum/deb file depend on your particular OS distro and version). Hope this helps.
