I must request again your help...
I posted last year a question about my HP F-4280 all-in-one not working with my
iraf 2.14 running on a UBUNTU 10.4 platform...
No one of the suggestions made was successfull...
Can anybody help me?
I think that there is something to change or to add in the graphcap file because the hplib device manager starts correctly but nothing appears on the printer.
Another possibility is to look for some change in the graphics devices libraries or configuration files between UBUNTU 9.10 and 10.4 because with that older version of Ubuntu .snap worked correctly.

if this is a SciSoft installation of iraf see http://iraf.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=90471&highlight=scisoft+sgidispatch for suggestions about how to fix the problem.
Otherwise, a zero-length file means that either the 'sgidispatch' command was not found (e.g. the install script wasn't run, it isn't in your patch, etc), or the sgi translator didn't run properly. If this is a postscript device then you should NOT be using the 'uhplj' entry, but if this worked under a previous installation it should continue to work. Since you upgraded the OS be sure you also re-ran the IRAF install script.
The usual way to diagnose this is to try a device like 'eps' or 'psdump' to create a postscript file (i.e. make sure the sgidispatch is working correctly). Then try a host level 'lpr' or 'lp' command to print this file. If you need to add flags to the command, use 'lp' instead of 'lpr' etc, then these need to be in the graphcap entry. If you get the ":.snap eps" or ":.snap psdump" (followed by a ":.gflush") to correctly produce a file, let me know what host command you need to execute in order to print it and I can suggest a graphcap entry.
