no output file generated by phot

Hello all,
I've been doing some aperture photometry on some SDSS .fits frames using the apphot.phot task in batch mode. I've done this before on non-SDSS images and never had any problems. As far as I can tell the only difference between the sdss and non-sdss images is that the former are a lot larger.
The problem is that when I run phot on the SDSS images it runs uninterrupted, but there is no output to the terminal and no output file is generated. I decided to run daofind on the images just to see if it encountered similar problems but it did not. I also thought there might be a problem with the image buffer size so I set stdimage=imt2048, still no luck.
If anyone has encountered similar problems or has any idea what is going on here I would very interested to hear from you. Hope you can help!
