multicolor gkimosaic?

A journal referee has asked me to revise a mosaic plot produced using gkimosaic so that selected plots within it are in different colors. Can this be done? If it is actually or nearly impossible I'll be happy to say so to the referee.

It might be possible depending on how specific you need to be. GKI metacode preserves the color information meaning things in an XGterm window like the axis label colors, frame background, etc will be rendered again in the graphics kernel. Note that using a hardcopy device like 'eps' uses the SGI driver which removes any color information, you'll need to use the PostScript kernel in STSDAS (e.g. the 'psidump' device) to create a PS file with the color.
The 'glbcolor' environment variable defines which colors are used in the plot, but only for things like the frame border and axis labels. If you need to e.g. overlay graphs in different colors then this ability depends on the task used to create the plot. All of these colors use the 'index' number, (e.g. color 3) what color this actually is depends on how you set the corresponding color resource in the XGterm window.
You might also look at the IGI task in TABLES as a different way to produce the plots that allows more color control. This is similar to SuperMongo but means you couldn't just grab the plot produced by some other task.
