emacs & other minor issues

Hi again, Mike,
Since the new install, my ECL window is acting up - often the new output on the screen inverts (white letter on blue background) at the end of a task, and I have to type "clear" to undo it.
Also, emacs is weird - it hides the first line of the file I'm editing underneath the emacs header line, writing an inverted-color 2 several columns in; and it closes in the middle of the window rather than the bottom. This is true for several different sized xwindows.
As I say, it's minor, but still a pain.

Since the new install of what, IRAF (from us or SciSoft?) or the OS (which one?)??
Nothings changed recently in IRAF that affects terminal handling, however linux is constantly changing the termcap settings for xterm and I tend to use
in my .cshrc file to avoid problems with e.g. reverse video after a man page. This applies to XGterm as well as Xterm, I see other funny coloring (usually syntactic colors for code in editors) when using plain text terminals like Konsole. I don't use emacs myself but this would be a new problem for X11 under OSX is that's the case, see if the 'xterm-color' setting has better luck or please post more information.
