daofind error

santiago wrote on Oct 06, 2009

i'm running daofind and i get the following error message:

ERROR: Cannot open pixel file (denXXXXa)

where XXXX is a number not always the same... like 9636 or something like that...

Images are taken with a SBIG CCD camera and the default Header is not the same header like say Cerro Tololo Y4K camera. The image is (.fit) and not (.fits) like the one of Y4K fits images... can this be fixed with rfits?

Regards,

By any chance is the /tmp directory full? Are you out of space on the partition?

I just figured out and i was about to reply myself to this... somehow i had a misconfigured imdir... i set it to the right folder and i could open the image... no problem... anyway... the "can't open pixel file" message created a confusion to me, in any case i would expect some message like "file not found or wrong imdir...." i went through a system reinstall and i probably kept the default imdir.... now it is all ok. Doing PSF fitting and everything it's ok so far....

Regards,
