Hi
I got to the last step of flux calibration for slit specta,using "calibrate".
By default the parameter used for sensitivity is "sens" . I am leaving it as it is, but when I run "calibrate" it gives me an error saying: cannot open image (sens).
That doesn't make any sense to me, can anyone help , please. :cry:

Is my question clear enough? Does anyone know what the problem might be, I've tried doing this so many times, but I'm getting the same error. :!:

The 'sensitivity' parameter is an image root name, the message is telling you the image doesn't exist or isn't readable. The default name 'sens' will be appended with a four-digit number for the aperture if appropriate, and the image itself is normally created by the SENSFUNC task. Given that, is there an image starting with 'sens' in the current directory? If you're using a directory name on the input list, does the 'sens' image exist in that same directory?

When I ran SENSFUNC I got a plot, I just "looked at it" then I moved on to the "calibrate" part. Is there anything that should be done with the SENSFUNC plot?

SENSFUNC should write the file when you quit with the 'q' key, but note the file root is also a parameter. Does the output image from SENSFUNC ever get created? Is it the same name used by both SENSFUNC and CALIBRATE?

In both cases you have 'ignoreaps' turned on so there shouldn't be any extensions for the aperture number and you should see a file called 'sens.fits' or somesuch. Is it there? If not the problem may be in SENSFUNC and not CALIBRATE.

Yes I guess you are right, I don't have any file called sens.fits or anything close... I wonder why isn't SENSFUNC producing it... any idea?

The only potential problem I see is that you should not put "answer=yes" on the command line when running sensfunc. This is intended to be a query you get when running the task interactively.
As Mike has said, the result of sensfunc should be files that begin with "sens". To possibly help you should send a directory listing after running sensfunc and any output in the logfile that might be relevant.
