SPLOT error

Hi

I just installed IRAF on my new mac. The installation went well but I have this error when I quit SPLOT.

Unable to open parameter file `uparm$ecesplot.par'.

I thus copied all the uparm files from the uparm folder from the previous machine and get the same error. The error ONLY appears when I quit SPLOT. Basically any changes in SPLOT or any task are not saved.

Please help!

I had to do "mkiraf" again and it worked just fine! I suppose IRAF was not installed correctly!

A new MKIRAF will recreate your login.cl file and uparm directory. The location of your uparm directory is defined in the login.cl, if you simply copied this from another machine then the path is likely to be different and would explain the error. The other common cause is a permissions problem, e.g. you logged in through somebody else's login.cl or updated the machine and changed the user-id so can't update the files.

In any case a new MKIRAF is the recommended fix.

Thanks! The error was fixed but a new one has emerged with the same SPLOT task. I plot a spectra in SPLOT and want to fit a Gaussian. Just when I press the "k" key, SPLOT quits and I get the following:

echelle> splot GJ905oct28-27.fits
Image line/aperture to plot (0:) (1): 6
ERROR: Cannot open file (splot.log)
echelle>

I have done MKIRAF multiple times and yet I have this error.
