display - bpcolor has no effects

Kathleen Labrie wrote on Aug 25, 2008

In IRAF 2.14, it seems that the parameter 'bpcolor' is no longer effective. Only the 'ocolors' parameter is picked up (even for bpdisplay='overlay' and overlay="").

For example
cl> unlearn display
cl> display myimage 1 bpmask=mymask.fits bpdisplay=overlay bpcolor=red \
overlay="" ocolors=green

..will display the bpmask in green. The bpcolor is completely ignored.

This becomes a problem when someone, like me, needs to flag the bpmask *and* make use of the 'overlay'.

Cheers,
Kathleen

Hi Kathleen,

During up update code was replicated from handling the overlays to the handling for the bad pixels. I forgot to reset the pointer for the colors so that the overlay colors are used for both. This was a trivial mistake which I appreciate that you caught and reported. As noted below, there is no workaround.

BUG: The "ocolors" parameter was being used in place of the "bpcolors"
parameter. There is no workaround.

STATUS: Fixed for the next release.

Since this feature is critical to our operations and we cannot wait for the next IRAF release, I troubleshooted the problem yesterday and fixed the display code. I recompiled x_tv.e, which is what we are using internally now.

Glad to get the confirmation that that was the only problem.

Kathleen
