Multidrizzle

lilirayhk wrote on Aug 11, 2008

Hi all,
I am a fresh iraf user and learning how to use IRAF to calibrate the data from ACS@HST. From the Data Handbook of ACS, I know the task "Multidrizzle" is used to correct the geometrical distortion of the ACS image. But I cannot use this task in my IRAF, it says I do not have the task "Pyraf", how can i solve this problem? Also wana ask except the reference table, is there any parameter in "Multidrizzle" which allows us to get a better distortion crrection? thx all!!!

PyRAF is a python command language capable of calling IRAF tasks, but must be installed separately from the rest of the system. You can download it and get the installation instructions from:

http://www.stsci.edu/resources/software_hardware/pyraf

Also wana ask except the reference table, is there any parameter in "Multidrizzle" which allows us to get a better distortion crrection?

You might get another answer from somebody more familiar with the task here, but I'd suggest you also contact the STScI HelpDesk (help@stsci.edu) for specific questions about ACS reductions (and for help installing Pyraf).

Cheers,
-Mike
