spectool error

Reba wrote on Mar 10, 2008

Hi all,

I am new to guiapps, and I am getting an error with spectool that I do not know how to repair. When I attempt to run the tutorial (so that I can learn how to use the program) I get the following error in spectool:

x_spectool.e: dynamic-link.h:62: elf_get_dynamic_info: Assertion '! "bad dynamic tag" ' failed.

Symotaniously in xgterm I get:

ERROR: abort
"spectool (spectrum, topic="tutorial")"
line 8: spt$tutorial.cl
called as: 'tutorial ()'

My distribution is Ubuntu 7.10

Any help or possibly a link to a guiapps tutorial would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Reba

If you're using the bin.linux binaries that came with the package tarball then this is probably an inconsistancy with those binaries being built on an older system. I've confirmed that copying the guiapps$bin.redhat/ binaries to the bin.linux directory for the package should work around this problem. If they continue, let me know and I'll send instructions on how to rebuild/relink the package locally.

Cheers,
-Mike
