Error on MSCDISP
yksheen wrote on Nov 17, 2007
When I try to display MOSAIC data using 'mscdisp',
it shows a message, 'ERROR: segmentation violation'.
I am working at Mac OS X Tiger and the other 'mscred' tasks are working well.
How can I solve this problem?
Help me, please.

There's not a lot to go on here, a segfault in MSCDISP isn't a known problem and a lot depends on the version of MSCRED you're using and perhaps the data itself. Are you using bad pixel masks for overlay? If so, does turning this off change anything? What version of MSCRED are you using (the 'version' package param)? Did you turn on/off any other parameters or are you using the defaults?

Thanks for quick reply.
I am dealing with MSCRED v4.8.
Still I have the error message.
Do you think compiling its source will solve this problem?
I am going to try it.
Thanks,

Compiling from source is a method of last resort and rarely fixes things like this. I would be better if you confirmed that an 'unlearn mscdisp' fails to clear the problem (i.e. using default params still fails, otherwise we can look at your parameter settings for problems), and if so, post a URL to the problem image and/or upload it to the ftp://iraf.noao.edu/pub anonftp directory.
