ds9 coordinate grid problem

Brian O’Halloran wrote on Jun 18, 2007

Hi everyone.

Not sure if this is the most appropriate forum to post ds9 questions in, but I hope you can help. I'm trying to plot a coordinate grid using ds9 and I get the following error when I try to generate a grid, even with the default parameters:

!! AST: Error at line 248 in file grid.C.
! astGrid(Plot): The range of coordinate values covered by axis 1 is too small to plot.

Plotting used to work - I can't load previous config files for coordinate grids, for example. I'm using the binary version of DS9 v 4.12. Any help would be very gratefully appreciated!

Thanks and all the best.

Unless somebody can post a workaround to a known problem, you're probably better off contacting SAO about this. I just tried it and got it to work on a linux system, but in doing so I noticed the grid display moved around in some weird way as I panned the image. You might try WCSLAB as a way to have IRAF overlay a coordinate grid (see the help page).

Cheers,
-Mike

Thanks Mike - I've just emailed SAO!
