so , when i try to set airmass for my images i get the following error:
Coords not precessed for m51_v.fits: check 2000
SETAIRMASS: Observatory parameters for GLAST Optical Robotic Telescope
Warning: OBSGETD: Observatory parameter not found
Im learning how to precess my coordinates, and I assume they need to be precessed before I can get accurate airmasses. But I am wondering, would unprecessed coordinates contribute to the OBSGETD part of this error message? I dont know which observatory parameter could be missing because i have entered the name, ID, longitude, latitude, altitude and timezone for GORT (GLAST Optical Robotic Telescope) in the observatory task and the image header references GORT in the observatory keyword.

Did you actually edit the noao$lib/obsdb.dat file to enter the new observatory parameters, or just edit the values in the OBSERVATORY task parameters? In the first case the image OBSERVAT keyword should match the entry in the db file, and the task 'observatory' parameter can be left at the default indirected value if you set the observatory, or as the name in the db. If you simply edited the parameters, note that you need to use the special value 'obspars' so the task will skip the database and use whatever the parameter setting are. Hope this helps.
