Variable star phot with daophot?

Hi all.
I am new to daophot, and enc.
What I would like to ask is, when you do varaible star photometry in batch mode on a number if images, must the images be properly alligned. That is, if you sit with a problem of varying tracking, and your images allignment is of by a number of pixels from one to the next, IS THIS A PROBLEM.
And if you must allign the images, what would be the easiest noninteractive method of doing this.
And a second Q? In the batch script, can you just fscan through a .lis file containing a list of the images to be phot'ed, with the other nessecary perameters "inserted" as singular varaibles? (I am new to scripting and still have to write the batch script!)

If you already have an accurate WCS defined for your images, you can tell all packages in daophot to use them. Hence you will not have to realign, etc. Furthermore, once you tell phot what coodinates to use, it will use the WCS information to find the x-y location of the star in the image.
To set the daophot parameters, run:
epar daophot
and look at the wcsin, wcsout, wcspsf parameters. You can change them to world (again, assuming you already have an accurate WCS defined. You should also take a look at the online help for daophot and its tasks (e.g., 'phelp daophot', 'phelp daofind', etc.).
If you need to set up a WCS for your images, there are a couple tutorials and other documentation that will step you through it. Just click on the "Docs" link near the top of this page. You'll also find some useful documentation on scripting.
