problem with task allstar
Guest wrote on Jul 19, 2006
Hallo,
I am an iraf user and I have encountered some problems with the daophot task allstar. I work on a 64 bit linux machine.
After I give the command "allstar" and enter all the parameters, I get the following error:
PANIC in `/usr/stsci/iraf/noao/bin.redhat/x_daophot.e': Memory has been corrupted
or
PANIC in `/usr/stsci/iraf/noao/bin.redhat/x_daophot.e': Memory has been corrupted
Killing IRAF task `allstar'
Traceback (innermost last):
File "<CL script CL1>", line 2, in ?
IrafError: Error running IRAF task allstar
('Not a legal IRAF pipe record', 32, 'Broken pipe')
if I run daophot from pyraf.
I suspect the problem is with the image: I have in fact tried to cut a small box out of it, and run allstar on this subimaage. In this case everything works.
Do you have any clue of what the problem may be?
many thanks,
Francesca Annibali

The only similar report I can remember is
http://iraf.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=84968&highlight=allstar+memory+corrupted
Check your data values and try resetting the cache param. Otherwise, what are your parameters, what version of IRAF, what version of redhat, can you post a sample image so we can replicate it, etc, etc, etc.
