External DAOPhot

Heather Bloemhard wrote on Jul 18, 2006

I'm trying to use DAOPhot, seperate from IRAF, to do photometry. I'm new to the whole world of photometry, and need some help. I've succesfully downloaded DAOPhot executables, and am trying to use them. Whenever I try to ATTACH an image file, it says that it is "Apparently not a standard format." I don't understand why I'm getting this error when my files are all FITS files, which I know to be a standard format.
I've looked through all the DAOPhot manuals that I can find, but nothing mentions this error. Any suggestions on what I should do?
Thank you,
Heather

I think newer versions of daophot may allow fits files, but in this case "standard" may refer to .imh imaqes (the code uses IMFORT). You can copy the FITS files to .imh with a simple IMCOPY.
