transform an image from galactic to celestial

Hi
I am trying to transform a FITS image written in galactic coordinates
to fk5,, but not only modyfing the WCS information, but also
remapping the pixels.
I tried to use imcctran to get the new WCS and the rotation
but when I enter these into imlintran, I found out that the
scale (xin,yin -> xout,yout) is not correct, as the pixel mapping
is now different.
my questions are
1) Is there a more intelligent way to do the image transformation?
2) Or... is there a way to calculate the xin,yin->xout,yout scaling so
I can include it in the imlintran parameters list?

The task SKYMAP maybe more appropriate for what you want to do. You need to generate the WCS you want to end up with. But once you have that then this task will take care of transforming the pixels. These tasks tend to be complex and sometimes a little difficult to understand the to and from directions but I think this is what you want. I can try and answer questions though I have not made use of these tasks before nor did I write them. But I have experience with the concepts of transforming images using the underlying tools that many of these use (e.g. geotran).
