gfit1d graphics task

IRAF Support:

I am using STSDAS.ANALYSIS.FITTING task GFIT1D

Sending the graphics to the screen is working fine.

And also, I have used ">>G 'metafile'" to write the graphics to a file.
Maybe I could use more knowhow on the use of this ">>G" trick?

Where might I learn more about this ">>G" usage?

But what I would like to know, and do, is how to label the axes
when using "gfit1d.interactive=no"

Maybe this task is not capable of doing some custom axes labeling?

When I run with "gfit1d.interactive=yes",

then of course I can label axes by use of the "T" writing,
and other gtools tricks.

I am familiar with stsdas.graphics.stplot sgraph task and
use it a lot.

Task sgraph has the capability of labeling the axes,
for example: axispar.xlabel="my_x_label"

But maybe the task gfit1d has no such capability?

See Section 3.3 of the "CL User's Guide" (http://docs.iraf.net/cluser/ at about page 18). It's an old doc but parts of it are actually correct.

As for the rest, GFIT1D doesn't allow custom axis labels or link with something like the gtools lib that does. The 'T' command is part of the standard cursor interface (see "help cursors"). You might have a look at CURFIT in the UTILITIES package, it fits the same functions but does link to gtools (and see "help gtools" for more about those commands). Hope this helps.
