Dear Janaka,
IRAF is distributed with all source code. The difficulties you might have is understanding the code which is written in a pre-processor language. This language is a combination of C and Fortran. Feel free to look and use any parts of the code you want. I should also warn you there is a lot of code and it may not be easy for you to extract the algorithms.

We are research team of Arthur C Clarke institute. We are doing spectroscopy and photometry. We use IRAF for the image procesing. Recently I started a project to develop a software to measure sunspots area. I am studing about this. I want to know whether the source codes and algorithms of IRAF are available for us.
