colour postscript

Hi, I encounter some problems getting graphs in postcript colour. Using TABLES package I make graphs with the task "sgraph". My problem is that I do not know how to create a ps or eps file which have the colour, as I have them using the device stdgraph. If I assume a stdplot = psdump, or any sort of eps I get it in black and white. I am running iraf 2.10.4 on a dec-alpha system. I have also trouble with the same task when using pc-iraf 2.11 on a freebsd system. But the trouble is that I cannot obtain any postscript file. I get an error : sgidispatch: not found. What do I miss ? Thanks for your help Annie Robin

The resulting postscript file will be in /tmp. For your second question, it looks like the program 'sgidispatch' was not properly installed, or you can't find it. Are you sure you ran the install script? From your host prompt, try doing a 'which sgidispatch'. If you get 'sgidispatch: Command not found', then there are two things to look for. The program should have been installed as a symbolic link in /usr/local/bin. Make sure that it is there. If it is, then make sure that /usr/local/bin is in your personal search path. Let us know if you still encounter any problems. Cheers, Matt Cheselka

Annie, Forgot one thing, since you're still running IRAf 2.10, you'll need to pick up the appropriate dev$graphcap entries for psidump before you can use it. You can get them from your linux distribution, or I can make a file that you can grab from our ftp site that had the entries you need. Cheers, Matt

Hi All --
I have a question with regard to SPP programming: do SPP tasks always set
their parameter variables on exit after being called from CL scripts, or
does one sometimes need to flush a buffer or something in order to update
the variables correctly?
My question is motivated by some problems I've been having when accessing
parameter variables in my SPP programs which are in turned called from CL
scripts. Here's the sort of thing I mean. I've written a simple little SPP
task called "sum" which has the following task variables:
ab> lpar sum
image = The image to be summed
(val = 34.725154876709) output -- sum of all pixels
(npix = 16384) output -- total number of pixels
(nzval = 34.725154876709) output -- sum of non-zero pixels
(maskpix = 12805) output -- number of non-zero pixels
(mode = "ql")
I find that if I run this interactively from the command line, it works
fine, but if call my SPP program from a CL script and try to access the
task's parameter variables within the script (eg. with statements like
total = sum.maskpix after calling sum to analyse the image) then the
variables are not correctly set. But if I wait until the CL script is
finished and then examine the hidden parameter variables (ie. by typing:
=sum.maskpix at the command line), lo and behold the numbers are correct.
I've verfied this by calling my "sum" SPP task followed by "lpar sum" in a
CL script, and noting I get very different answers when I go "lpar sum"
from the command line immediately after running my script.
I'm sure I'm doing something silly here, but can't see what. For example,
is there something I should be calling in my SPP program to ensure that
the task parameters are updated right away, rather than only when the CL
goes back to the command-line?
Thanks -
