Compiling ared under Linux

Robert Knop wrote on Sep 23, 1998

I'm having trouble making the "ared" package (CTIO PFCCD reductions) on
Linux. I'm following the instructions from "ared.readme". This is the
error that shows up in the output (as captured in ared.spool):

qpcalimage.f:
   tqpcae:
Error on line 114 of qpcalimage.f: impossible conversion
   calfid:
   calime:
   calopn:
   calcle:
   callit:
   ccdcmp:
/iraf/iraf/unix/hlib/f77.sh: qpcalimage.c: No such file or directory

The further problems seem to cascade from that.

I would be grateful for any suggestions provided.

Thank you,

-Rob

The problem is caused by the fact that on line 64 of
ared$quad/qpcalimage.x the boolean 'found' variable is set to the integer
value NO instead of the boolean FALSE. You can either change the code and
recompile or there are prebuilt slackware and redhat binaries in
ftp://iraf.noao.edu/contrib, just unpack in the appropriate image
directory.

Cheers,
-Mike
