Source code for splot ???

Sergei O. Naoumov wrote on Apr 07, 1999

Hi!
I was wondering whether I can get a source code for the Iraf's splot
task. It has a capability of fitting two or more gaussians to the
data which I need to fit my distributions.

Does anyone know where I can get it or any other piece of code/software
that is capable of fitting TWO gaussians?

Thanks,
		Sergei

IRAF is distributed with all sources, in this case what you're
after can be found by doing

	cl> cd noao$ondespec/splot

The files 'spdeblend.x' and 'deblend.x' should be what you need most.
The sources are written in SPP and you'll need to write another SPP
task to make use of them. See ftp://iraf.noao.edu/iraf/docs/sppguide.ps.Z
for an intro to SPP, there is also a guide available from STScI at
ftp://ftp.stsci.edu/pub/software/stsdas/docs/SPPManual.ps.
I'm not aware of any single task in IRAF or any external package
that simply fits multiple Gaussians. Hope this helps.

Cheers,

I should have mentioned, it's possible your site manager stripped
the IRAF system of sources to conserve disk space (this leaves a complete
runtime system, just no sources for the tasks). If you get to the splot
directory and find it empty let me know and I'll put the source on our
archive for you to pick up.
