partab problems in iraf/linux

Hi there,
I'm having a problem in trying to use the task 'partab'. I am running iraf
v2.10.4 in a linux/slackware 2.3 pentium. I am trying to use a script to
handle apperture photometry which works fine in our solaris version of
iraf but simply doesn't work in the linux one. I have an stsdas table,
tt> tprint table
# Table table.tab Wed 22:13:57 16-Sep-98
# row id mag merr
#
1 1. INDEF 0.02
2 2. 15.325 0.01
3 3. 16.591 0.024
4 4. 16.779 0.027
5 5. 16.933 0.031
6 6. 17.024 0.034
and I wish to replace the values in column 'mag' by the difference between
the magnitude of first star (row #1) and that of the current row.
I have a script which does this in the following way,
procedure deltamag(table)
char table
begin
file tabela
real mcomp,aux
int j,nrows
tabela=table
tinfo(tabela)
nrows = tinfo.nrows
tabpar(tabela,'mag',1)
mcomp = real(tabpar.value)
for (j=2; j<=nrows ; j=j+1)
{
tabpar(tabela,'mag',j)
aux = real(tabpar.value) - mcomp
partab.value=aux
partab(aux,tabela,'mag',j)
}
end
However, when I try to use partab to do the job I always get a funny
result like this below,
tt> partab 1.0 table 'mag' 2
ERROR: floating point exception
Partab simply doesn't work, neither from within the script nor from the cl
prompt. I would appreciate having some hint on where the problem might be.
Thanks in advance for you kind attention,
Best regards,
Raymundo Baptista
