Hi! I am announcing a first public release of satlas! Satlas is an electronic atlas of the solar spectrum and targeted primarily for astronomers who do a lot of spectral analysis work. It is based on Gtk+ and MySQL. MySQL is used to store, manage and provide a quick access to the data, while Gtk+ provides GUI. Some functionality of satlas can be also accessed through the command line. *Features* of satlas v0.95: - Display and browse solar spectrum in a specified wavelength range. - Display data on the individual lines in the spectrum. - Using more detailed atomic information (not for all lines), such as oscillator strengths, excitation and ionization potentials, etc., generate inputs for WIDTH9, a numerical code written to calculate chemical element abundances. Satlas seems to be VERY helpful for users of IRAF's splot task who are measuring equivalent widths. More detailed information and the source code along with the data can be access from: http://www.physics.unc.edu/~serge/satlas/ Snapshots are also provided! :-))) Satlas is distributed under GNU Public License. Any questions, comments, blames and suggestions are welcomed. Send them to serge@astro.unc.edu. -- Sergei Naumov serge@astro.unc.edu
