NUMBER: 5 KEYWORDS: encapsulated postscript snap DATE: Wed Jan 5 15:16:12 MST 2005 FROM: valdes Q: How do I make a postscript file from the SPECPLOT? A: When you have the graph you want type one of the following :.snap eps :.snap epsl :.snap psdump The first two produce a file sgiXXXXXX.eps in your working directory and the last produces a file irafdmpXXXXX.ps in /tmp. Because of buffering you might need to type ".gflush" from the cursor mode or "gflush" from the CL command line. The two EPS files are in portrait and landscape. You would probably want to rename the files so you remember what they are. Note that postscript in IRAF is black and white only. To get color postscript see http://iraf.noao.edu/iraf/web/faq/FAQsec08.html#8005 Another task to call your attention to is "igi" in the tables.tbplot package. This is a Mongo-like graphics language interpreter that understands IRAF files. While you need to learn the language it is what I use if I really need complex graphics with lots of labels and spectra. It is convenient because you can keep the commands in a text file. If you are happy with SPECPLOT for what you are doing then this would be overkill.
