astcalc imde(l)

Frank Valdes wrote on Apr 22, 1999

Q: I find astcalc to be a very useful task, but just wanted to let you
know that I think I have found an error in the documentation for
astcalc. I believe you actually have to type "imde" rather than
"imdel" in order to delete a keyword. At least I found this to be true
in the commands file I have written.

(I had to look at the source code to find this out, not sure if it was
just a typo in astfunc.x, or a typo in the help file).

Are there any other examples of complicated commands files for astcalc,
aside from the astradius script?
I am in the processing of writing a script to fix the headers from
Las Campanas.

I think I have it mostly figured out now, but was still wondering if there
were any other example of astcalc in action.

A: Yes it is a bug in the program and not the intent or an error in the
documentation. This will be fixed but the workaround is, as you reported,
to use "imde" instead.

I am glad you find this to be a useful tool. I have not heard too much
about this task from users. The only macro task written based on this
task is ASTRADIUS. If ASTCALC is being used by others it is most likely
in terms of simple editing operations.

BUG: The "imdel" function name in ASTHEDIT and ASTCALC is not recognized
because of an error in the program. Instead this function is
        recognized with the name "imde".

STATUS: Fixed for the next release.
