xyxymatch and tables

Octavi Fors Aldrich wrote on Jul 24, 1998

Hello all!

I've been working with some immatch tasks for the first time, and some
questions have coming up. In particular, with the xyxymatch task:

I'm working with different CCD frames, and when I finish to detect
stars-like objects (with daofind or starfind tasks), I need to match the
output list in some way. The output dao1.coo.1,dao2.coo.2 files have
this aspect:

dao1.coo.1
#N XCENTER YCENTER MAG SHARPNESS SROUND GROUND
ID \
#U pixels pixels # # # #
# \
#F %-13.3f %-10.3f %-9.3f %-12.3f %-12.3f %-12.3f
%-6d \
#
   365.952 4.223 -2.864 0.588 -0.011 -0.040 1
   65.027 15.635 -0.332 0.705 -0.088 0.157 2
   84.394 18.805 -0.024 0.507 0.020 -0.317 3
...

dao2.coo.1
#N XCENTER YCENTER MAG SHARPNESS SROUND GROUND
ID \
#U pixels pixels # # # #
# \
#F %-13.3f %-10.3f %-9.3f %-12.3f %-12.3f %-12.3f
%-6d \
#
   366.152 3.510 -2.371 0.453 0.382 0.176 1
   64.968 14.764 -0.392 0.509 0.134 0.100 2
   943.462 25.989 -0.343 0.306 -0.315 -0.019 3
...

and xyxymatch is able to understand them, doing something like:

im> xyxymatch dao1.coo.1 dao2.coo.2 match12.xy

Up to here, no problem! What is ugly is that xyxymatch doesn't deal with
other fields different from position, I mean, that you obtain an output
like this:

match12.xy
# Column definitions
# Column 1: X reference coordinate
# Column 2: Y reference coordinate
# Column 3: X input coordinate
# Column 4: Y input coordinate
# Column 5: Reference line number
# Column 6: Input line number

      366.152 3.510 365.952 4.223 42 42
       64.968 14.764 65.027 15.635 43 43
      943.462 25.989 943.118 27.099 44 46
...
but the information regarding the MAG fields, for example, is lost. Is
there any way to preserve MAG fields after matching two *.coo.1 tables.
In case of not, could be possible to recorver this information, for
example coming back to the dao1.coo.1, dao2.coo.2 files and using some
task able to browse them in function of the match12.xy file? For
example, using this syntax:

cl> task dao1.coo.1 match12.xy "XCENTER==Column1 && YCENTER==Column2"
dao1_matched.coo.1 "XCENTER,YCENTER,MAG"

where "XCENTER,YCENTER,MAG" are the fields to be saved in the
dao1_matched.coo.1 output file
and "XCENTER==Column1 && YCENTER==Column2" means only select those rows
which have the same X,Y coordinates.

Thanks in advance,
